"The recent threat on the job security of overseas Filipino workers in Taiwan proves that Filipinos cannot forever rely on available jobs abroad. The time will come when other countries will deny jobs to foreigners, including skilled Filipino workers, to accommodate their own unemployed citizens. The Philippine government should start looking for other ways to keep its economy afloat. Its best option is to create local industries and jobs for its labor force," she said.

The Gabriela Women’s Party representatives call justice for Eugenia Baja, the overseas Filipino worker who died of a mysterious cause in Saudi Arabia on February 24 and whose body has just recently been repatriated.

“The unknown nature of her death warrants an investigation. We are calling on the Philippine government to cooperate with the proper authorities to know the real cause of and thus give justice to her death,” Gabriela solon Luzviminda C. Ilagan said.  read more »
