21 October 2016 - Relocatees and government housing project beneficiaries today trooped to the National Housing Authority to call for an end to all evictions amid unaffordable housing amortizations, the lack of basic social services and jobs and highly questionable contracts with real estate developers.
Gabriela Women’s Party strongly condemns the violent dispersal of Moro and indigenous peoples’ protest held at the US embassy this morning.
Initial reports say that over 30 protesters were reportedly injured as a police car ran over and fired teargas at them.
A number of protesters from varying indigenous tribes, including two girls from a Lumad tribe in Bukidnon and their supporters were also arrested.

I rise today on a matter of personal and collective privilege.
“Vice President Leni Robredo may be misguided in the bid to seek the reversal of the land conversion moratorium from the Department of Agrarian Reform.”
Thus said Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Arlene Brosas today, expressing support for the land conversion moratorium being espoused by the Department of Agrarian Reform as part of the Duterte administration’s program to ensure food security.
“Did joint US-PH patrols ever stop China from encroaching into Philippine waters? The President is right in pursuing a different tact in protecting and asserting Philippine jurisdiction over the West Philippine Sea and upholding the United Nations’ Tribunal decision in favor of the Philippines.”
Thus said Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Emmi De Jesus as the partylist group expressed support at President Duterte’s decision to stop the joint patrols being conducted by the Philippine Navy with the US Navy in the said contested sea lanes and territories.
Women’s partylist group Gabriela protested today at the Camp Aguinaldo to demand the transfer of convicted murderer US marine Pfc Joseph Scott Pemberton’s detention from a US military structure inside Camp Aguinaldo to a Philippine jail facility and; demand the abrogation of all US-PH military agreements.

10 October 2016 - Two years after Subic resident Jennifer Laude was found dead from a violent sexual encounter with US marine private Joseph Scott Pemberton, militant women’s groups are urging Congress to follow the lead of President Rodrigo Duterte in assessing the real benefits and harm from the military alliance treaties and exercises between the United States and the Philippines.
Partylist group Gabriela threw today its full support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s assertion of an independent foreign policy, finding the Duterte administration gradually working towards meaningful reforms while needing much improvement on its methods in addressing the problem of illegal drugs and crime in the country.
